Our Mission

womanpillbottles.jpgOur mission is to provide quality pharmaceutical care at a reduced cost to people in  McDowell County who are living on a limited income and are not eligible for other assistance programs.

Through grants and by assisting clients with participation in a variety of different pharmaceutical assistance programs, the McDowell Medication Assistance Program can often help provide prescription medication to qualifying people at low cost or no cost.

Examples of Medication Types Available:
             1. Asthma
             2.  Blood Pressure
             3.  Cholesterol
             4.  Depression/Anxiety
             5.  Diabetes
             6.  Heart

Eligibility

1.  Clients cannot be eligible for Medicaid, Medicare part D, or have private insurance which covers prescription medications.

2.  To be eligible to receive these services, you must have income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

3.  Clients must provide proof of their income including, but not limited to, the previous year's federal tax return, their current Social Security Benefit Statement (form SSA-1099), check stubs, Social Security stubs, or other pertinent information.

Clients must bring in new financial information each year. Also, when financial information changes through-out the year, it needs to be updated.

Participation

As part of their initial visit to us, clients must schedule an appointment with a Prescription Assistance Coordinator (PAC). Clients must bring proof of income (as previously stated), their Social Security card, and all of their medication bottles with them.

The PAC will order the available medications from the pharmaceutical companies. It takes 6 to 10 weeks to receive medications.

The medications come to your doctor's office. You must call the PAC when these medications arrive.

You must notify PAC of any changes in finances or medications.
